This series of work is a personal response to a specific place.

There is a path on Mount Majura (ACT, Australia) that has always been a favourite of mine, I’ve walked it numerous times over many year. The stoney path leads through an area of large white trunked eucalypts surrounded by native grasses. Sometimes, on early morning walks, there is a bright, oblique light coming through the forest which stills me in that place and moment.

In making the ‘Impressions’ series, I am trying to capture the essence of my experience of this walk. I took impressions of stones and fallen trees from the mountain, then with these created surfaces on porcelain and glass. The surface, form, fragility and light of the resulting work attempts to capture the forest and the moment.
